Hurricane Update

Dear Family and Friends,
Just wanted to drop a note on the passage before we lose all power to fill
you in on the details. First of all I will be updating my blog site on my web,
www.louannhoman.com for all the events, and Philip has photos and such on his
villagecraftsmen.com.

So many events of the week, the birth of the new baby yesterday on Philip's
60th birthday, a quick drive (four hours up and four back, we wanted to get
back before the storm hit) to see and hold Amy and David's new baby boy. I have
so many stories from this week, that some will just have to wait.

The village is quiet and void of many tourists, ferries are tied up, and we
are for the duration. It has just been upgraded to a Hurricane 2 with a direct
hit on the island by early afternoon. We spent some time on the beach
earlier, could hardly stand up. It is pitch dark here, the rain and wind in
torrents. We have no TV or radio, but use the computer and just plain look out the
windows. We are sure to lose phone and internet service. (A huge gust just
tore at the windows, can barely see outside!) If you aren't sure where we are
located, check out a map...we are off the coast of North Carolina, Ocracoke
Island.

We will take photos later and maybe have that "surprise" party tonight for
Philip's birthday...actually his entire birthday has been full of surprises!!

Check for journal updates...love to all. Lou Ann
